Our Amazing Technological Pedigree
RelīOx™ technology was developed at the University of Florida from research originally funded by the Department of Defense (DoD).
In 2009 the DoD was searching for portable, rapidly deployable defensive devices for personal defense against chemical and biological weapon attacks. The DoD had already concluded that chlorine dioxide (ClO2) was an ideal candidate for their purposes, except for problems that came from the chemicals being used to create the ClO2.
The problem was that existing methods to create chlorine dioxide make its use risky as they involved mixing dangerous chemicals.
The DoD approached Dr. David Richardson at the University of Florida to see if he could come up with a solution.
In 2006 Dr. Richardson received a grant from the DoD to research using chlorine dioxide as a chemical / biological warfare countermeasure. The research led to 6 patents for new methods of generating chlorine dioxide. The patents are held by the University of Florida Research Foundation. ReliOx was formed in 2012 and holds worldwide licenses to these patents.
Today, RelīOx™ products are manufactured in Jacksonville, Florida. Our products are used very successfully throughout several industries.
We didn’t invent chlorine dioxide, we invented a safe way to make it, on demand, as needed without handling, mixing or diluting harsh chemicals.
